He wrote the reviews, assigned the features, and decided which artists, galleries, and performances would be introduced to the city's readers. That role carried real power: to shape taste, to confer legitimacy, to determine who got seen and who didn't. This talk examines that process from the inside, how a publication's editorial choices become a city's received wisdom, and what gets lost when one institution holds that much influence over a region's cultural conversation.
