Tuesday is a perfectly good night. Things to do in Dallas on a weeknight.
Most "things to do in Dallas" lists are really "things to do in Dallas on a Saturday." That leaves four perfectly good nights a week going to waste. Here are six worth leaving the house for, whether you're going alone, with friends or on a date. None of them involve trivia.
Details checked October 2026. Schedules change, so check each venue before you go.
1. The Hang Theory
Our own lecture series, so take this one with a grain of salt. One speaker, one big idea, 45 minutes, then questions from the room. Recent topics: forensic pathology, gentrification and the arts, a stroke patient who learned piano. Doors at 6:30, talk at 7:00, and people actually stay to talk afterward. Members get every night for $70 a month.
2. Dallas Philosophers Forum
A long-running philosophy group that meets over dinner at a buffet on Belt Line. A 45-minute lecture, then 15 minutes of questions. It's unpretentious, cheap, and the regulars have opinions. Arrive early if you want to eat.
3. The Texas Theatre
A 1931 movie palace on Jefferson Boulevard with a bar and a programming calendar that runs from cult classics to new indies, often with filmmaker Q&As. Yes, it's where Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested. The popcorn is better than the history.
4. Weeknight comedy
Dallas Comedy Club in Deep Ellum runs shows Wednesday through Sunday. Hyena's at Mockingbird Station has a Wednesday open mic, which is either the best or worst night out you'll have this year. Both are cheap enough to risk it.
5. Perot Museum Thursdays on Tap
The science museum after dark, for adults only. Exhibits open late, a bar, live music and food trucks. It runs in seasons, so check the Perot's calendar for current dates. Tickets tend to sell out.
6. DMA Late Night at the Museum
Technically not a weeknight. Close enough. The Dallas Museum of Art stays open until 11 with DJs, cocktails, performances and all four floors to wander. It only happens a few times a season, so put the next one on your calendar.
How to pick one
Going alone? The Hang Theory or the Philosophers Forum. Both are built for showing up without knowing anyone. Date night? The Texas Theatre, then a drink on Bishop Arts. Want to laugh at someone braver than you? Wednesday open mic. Want more talks? Read our guide to the best lecture series in Dallas.
We send one short email when the next talk goes on sale. That's it.
