What this talk is about
The Hang Theory. A lecture series by Hang Dallas.
One speaker. One big idea. One good room.
Where · 2700 Swiss Event Space.
The title sounds like science fiction, but the work is happening now in Dallas. Dr. Nader Pouratian is leading three separate clinical trials testing whether deep brain stimulation can treat conditions that haven't responded to anything else: treatment-resistant depression and schizophrenia. The procedure involves placing electrodes in specific brain circuits and delivering targeted electrical pulses. The question isn't whether it works in some cases. The question is where the line sits between fixing what's broken and changing what makes someone who they are.
