What this talk is about

The Hang Theory. A lecture series by Hang Dallas.

One speaker. One big idea. One good room.

Where · Times Ten Cellars.

Dr. Corey Trahan opens with a claim: you've never actually heard a human voice. Not the way opera asks you to hear one. The unamplified voice, shaped by centuries of technique, fills a hall without microphones and carries text, emotion, and melody at once. Dr. Trahan directs TCU Opera Studio and performs as a tenor with Fort Worth Opera, and he'll walk through what sets opera apart from other vocal traditions. Tonight's talk draws on his work staging productions and performing professionally across the region.

Soprano Megan Koch performs three arias: Quando m'en vo, Sempre libera, and Porgi amor. Koch has appeared with Fort Worth Opera, Opera Arlington, and Shreveport Opera, and was featured on the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra Holiday Pops concerts. She made her mainstage debut as Donna Anna with Opera Arlington and returned to Fort Worth Opera as Amy in Mark Adamo's Little Women. She won the Classical Singer Vocal Competition Emerging Artist Division in 2022 and served as a Hattie Mae Lesley Resident Artist at Fort Worth Opera for two seasons.
